VOLUNTEER WORK

INTERN AT GUIZHOU FORERUNNER COLLEGE

Guizhou Forerunner College is located in rural Guizhou, China. As an English teacher for primary school, high school, and college students, I planned English lessons, games, and helpful ways for students to continue learning English. While in China for five weeks, I was also able to learn about Chinese culture of China as a whole and of this province. My team and I were also able to make a few trips to villages nearby to visit orphanages. There we had the opportunity to play with primary school age children. Above is a bird's eye view of the college campus.

PEER MENTOR AT BIOLA UNIVERSITY

Advised freshman students in the Christian Ministries major during one semester. Guided students through their first semesters at Biola University in relationships, internship options, campus life, career direction, and spiritual life. Being a sounding board for new students was an opportunity to share insights into these daunting decisions as I was finishing my last year of classes.

YOUTH MINISTRIES INTERN

ROCKHARBOR Church in Mission Viejo, CA gave me the opportunity to learn and grow in this position. I was responsible for teaching four messages over the course of a semester to both middle and high school ages. I helped plan events and services for both age groups. I assisted my supervisor in coordinating, preparing, and executing events for middle and high school students on a weekly basis. Responsible for making contacts with small group leaders and ministry group members in effort to relay and follow up on events, projects, and objectives. Cultivatins relationships with students to help them grow personally and spiritually was my favorite part of this ministry.

YOUNGLIFE LEADER

In San Clemente, CA I had the opportunity to be a leader for 5-7 high school girls from my former high school. This involved forming trustworthy friendships with students over a school year. In this leadership position, I was able to learn how a para-church organization works to share the gospel with teens in order to get them plugged in with a local church.
